What is Health? Where Does Healing Come From?
We help people with chronic pain, stress and anxiety get to the root cause of their problems so they can get back to living the way they want to, with full energy, mood, sleep and quality of life.

What is Health? Where does Healing come from?

A thought provoking question, to me as a person whose profession is to help people heal.

To me Health is Wholism- going back to my roots in the study Ecology. Webster definition: Holism: a theory that the universe and especially living nature is correctly seen in terms of interacting wholes (as of living organisms) that are more than the mere sum of elementary particles.

Wholism in health care means we consider how all the aspects of us are interconnected and whether they are working in coordination: both our internal body systems, and the balance of mind, body, spirit. And as no person is an island, wholism takes into account is our relationships to the world around us- is it in harmony?

This is a lofty goal! Health is a journey not a destination, as inevitably stresses and losses arise, we are constantly shifting our balance to find a new place of learning and integration with what comes at us. We most certainly lose balance or are knocked off balance by life.

Our job on the journey of healing, is to find ways to reconnect and express our unique qualities as a part of the dynamic system of which we are a part, and it is our adaptability to change and ability to recover and renew ourselves which is a marker of health and healing. In this model, you can have experienced cancer and still be whole, you can have a disease from which you may never recover fully and still experience wellbeing.

In order to understand BioGeometric Integration, it is important to understand Chiropractic and the concept of Subluxation.

The purpose of Chiropractic is to release interference to the expression of the innate intelligence and vital force of the body. A Subluxation is the term chiropractors use to describe the interference to the optimal expression of your system, which results from physical, biochemical, or psychological distress. Subluxations are experienced as tension, contraction, restriction and fixation in the spinal system as well as the entire energetic tone of the body. Subluxations are what clouds our perspective and keeps us repeating the same treadmill of stress. You can think of a Subluxation as an un-integrated physical, biochemical or emotional life experience, which causes us to become fragmented rather than connected. It is a limitation to our perception and expression of our wholeness.

A chiropractor guides your body in reconnecting as a whole and facilitates the releasing those interferences (Subluxations) in order to allow greater expression of your bodies’ innate intelligence, and therefore a greater expression of health, healing and wellbeing.

Bio- Geometric Integration (BGI) was discovered and developed by Dr. Sue Brown DC and it is an integrative approach to the Science, Philosophy and Art of chiropractic. BGI provides chiropractors with a greater understanding of the bodies’ innate geometry and connectivity, enabling them to more effectively facilitate the release of potential energy in the body and assess the effectiveness of each adjustment.

Traditionally in chiropractic the subluxation is viewed strictly in terms of compression or stretching of the nerves and spinal cord by misaligned vertebrae. BGI expands that understanding to incorporate not on the spine and nervous system but also the bodies soft tissues ( muscles, ligaments, organs and glands), the electromagnetic field of the body, and it’s underlying energetic nature.

When describing energy in the body, we are not talking about something outside of the physical tissues, we are talking about the underlying tonal quality of a material thing. Energy is information that moves, literally it vibrates. Quantum physics has brought us the understanding that all material objects are in essence made of vibrational structures- atoms, and subatomic particles are only perceptible by tracking their motion and the forces that keep them in relation to each other.

Max Plank the originator of Quantum Theory

“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.
“Max Planck—Upon receiving his Nobel prize.

By working with the understandings of BioGeometric Integration we can access the structures of the body at a vibrational level. A simple touch at the right place of focus on the body, allows the system to reconnect and release stored potential energy and make huge changes to the tension patterns (Subluxations) which the body has been holding onto, literally for decades in some cases. We cultivate the bodies’ own internal mechanisms of breath and movement to develop the ability to stay connected in between adjustments and develop greater awareness and flexibility so as to take more steps on the journey of healing. I am constantly amazed at how much the body truly wants to move toward balance and release those stuck patterns, given the opportunity, it is simply a matter of holding up a mirror so that the system can recognize the limitation.
